Owner of Vista Structural Engineering

Dennis Heier

Dennis is the owner of Vista Structural Engineering and started the company in July of 2014.  Since earning his B.S. in civil engineering from The University of Kansas, Dennis has been working in the structural engineering field since 2000, also obtaining an M.Eng. degree from Portland State University along the way.  It’s his mission to see to it that everyone at Vista enjoys being part of the team and that our clients realize how devoted we are to their success.

Dennis enjoys an occasional round of golf and a good hike in the Pacific Northwest.  But his absolute favorite thing is spending time with his wife and playing with his two little princesses.

Eric Struben

Eric joined Vista in July of 2019.  After spending the first few years of his career working in civil engineering, Eric decided to pursue his passion of structural engineering, and has done an amazing job making the transition.  Eric specializes in deep foundation and residential engineering.  Eric graduated from Oregon State University.

Eric enjoys time with his wife and two beautiful daughters, skateboarding, a good craft brew, and spending time with family in California and Alaska.  He’s also the member of our team most likely to make you laugh!

Lead Drafter and Engineering Technician

Alba Guifarro

Alba is the Lead Drafter and Engineering Technician at our company, embodying the philosophy of persistence in her work. With a 3-year associate degree in Elementary Education and a 2-year associate degree in Architectural Design and Drafting, Alba brings a diverse skill set to her role.

Alba’s journey into the field began when she discovered a job opportunity at Vista through job leads emails from Portland Community College where she completed her degree in Architectural Design. It was a no-brainer to add Alba to our crew of drafting All-Stars as she had all of the experience and ambition required to fit the role.

Now, with years of experience as a structural drafter, Alba has honed her expertise in various areas. Notably, she possesses extensive experience in project management and the design and drafting of foundation repair systems. Alba has also performed inspections for deep foundation projects, showcasing her proficiency in this specialized field.

Alba’s individual growth has allowed us to grow and prosper as a company and she continues to amaze us with her work ethic and drive to succeed in the foundation repair industry. She also has her own goals to consistently improve her communication skills, advance her professional qualifications, and keep a healthy lifestyle while pursuing her personal happiness. She takes pride in having learned a second language, securing a great job, and being able to provide for her family.

During weekends, Alba finds joy in hiking, cooking, indulging in movie marathons, and engaging in writing. These activities fuel her creativity, offer relaxation, and provide an outlet for self-expression.

Engineering Designer

Jake Chacko

Jake is a highly qualified Drafter/Systems Designer who is always doing his best to surpass client expectations. With a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Drexel University and over 20 years in the construction industry he brings a strong knowledge of structural design and drafting to his work.

Notably, Jake is also a world class dad, sharing the joys of fatherhood with his two wonderful daughters and delighting everyone with his compassion and skill in telling dad jokes. From drafting to project management, Jake’s diverse experience encompasses both residential and commercial projects. His goal is to be productive every day, finding satisfaction in accomplishing tasks big and small.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his beautiful wife and daughters, whether it’s watching movies, embarking on trips, or simply enjoying good food and laughter at home. Additionally, Jake is an enthusiastic supporter of Philly sports teams, eagerly following their journey whenever possible.

Karla Kreilkamp

Karla was born in Peru. She moved to USA in 1998 to join the rest of her family settled in Portland. She worked at a Property Management Company for 6 years in the Portland Metro Area before she switched her focus to healthcare where she stayed for 12 years before coming to work for Vista Structural Engineering.

When she is not in the office, she is a mom. She spends time with her 5 year old son Sebastian. She enjoys going on walks, reading, singing, and dancing with him. She also likes cooking and trying new recipes. She loves listening to radio shows like Science Friday on NPR radio and Radio lab which are her favorite ones.
